Deleting Pro Tools Preferences

Sometimes in ProTools, you may encounter strange plug in behaviours.

An example might be needing to change an instruments patch before your recorded MIDI plays correctly.

A solution to strange plug-in behaviour is to delete the Pro Tools Preferences.

Windows


For Pro Tools 11, 12, and 2018+

1. Close Pro Tools,

2. Press Windows (

) to open the start menu,

3. Type %appdata% and press OK,

4. Open the Avid folder, and delete the Pro Tools folder,

5. Restart your computer and launch Pro Tools.

Mac


For Pro Tools versions 11, 12, 2018+

1. Close Pro Tools then open Finder,

2. Click Go and select Computer > Macintosh HD,

3. Go to /Library/Preferences/Avid,

4. Delete the Pro Tools folder,

5. Restart your computer and launch Pro Tools.
