What is happening to LABS?

Learn what the LABS and LABS+ sunset means, what will keep working after 31 October 2026, what will no longer be supported, and how to move your content and subscription to Splice INSTRUMENT.

What is happening to LABS?

LABS and LABS+ are being sunset on 31 October 2026.

If LABS is already installed, you can keep using it after 31 October, including in your existing projects. However, it will no longer receive new content, updates, bug fixes, or technical support.

All of the content you know from LABS lives on in Splice INSTRUMENT, under the LABS and Spitfire labels. New content and ongoing development will continue there.

What does sunsetting LABS mean?

From 31 October, LABS and LABS+ will no longer receive new content, updates, bug fixes, or technical support. New content and ongoing development will continue in Splice INSTRUMENT.

Will LABS and my existing projects still work after 31 October?

Yes. If LABS is already installed and working, you can continue using it after 31 October, including in existing projects.

Existing projects using LABS should continue to open and play back as they do today. You do not need to replace LABS in existing projects.

However, because the plugin will no longer be supported, we cannot guarantee that it will continue working indefinitely as operating systems, hardware, and other software change.

If you encounter technical issues with LABS after the sunset, we will recommend migrating to Splice INSTRUMENT rather than troubleshooting the legacy plugin.

What will I no longer be able to do after 31 October?

You will no longer be able to:

  • Install new LABS packs

  • Repair or redownload existing LABS content

  • Access premium LABS+ content from within LABS

  • Receive plugin updates, bug fixes, or technical support

If there is any LABS content you wish to continue using, we recommend installing it before 31 October.

Is my LABS content available in Splice INSTRUMENT, and how do I migrate?

Yes. The same free LABS packs and LABS+ content are available in Splice INSTRUMENT.

Getting started is as simple as installing INSTRUMENT. The first time you open it, your currently installed LABS content will also be linked to INSTRUMENT.

From there, we recommend setting your installation path so that all of your content remains in one place. See How to set the install location for Splice INSTRUMENT content.

Within your DAW, nothing will change automatically. We do not want to break your existing projects, so they will continue to load using the LABS plugin rather than being automatically replaced.

If you want an existing project to use INSTRUMENT instead, you will need to manually replace the LABS plugin on each track.

Splice INSTRUMENT also includes monthly free drops featuring premium presets that you can keep permanently.

Do I need to do anything before 31 October?

No action is required if you want to continue using your existing LABS installation.

However, we recommend installing any LABS content you may want before 31 October. If you want continued access to new content, updates, and support, migrate to Splice INSTRUMENT.

What happens to my LABS+ subscription, and how do I move to INSTRUMENT?

Existing monthly LABS+ subscriptions will continue unless canceled. LABS+ content you have already installed will continue to work.

After 31 October, you will not be able to download new LABS+ packs or repair existing LABS+ content from within LABS.

The content available in LABS+ and Splice INSTRUMENT is the same, but the subscriptions are separate. A LABS+ subscription does not give you access to content inside Splice INSTRUMENT, and an INSTRUMENT plan does not unlock content inside LABS.

If you are moving from LABS+ to INSTRUMENT, keep the following in mind:

  1. Your existing projects and tracks using the LABS plugin will still play back and respond to automation after you cancel your LABS+ subscription.

  2. For new work using LABS+ content, load the INSTRUMENT plugin, where you can continue to tweak and modify sounds and download new content.

For subscription options, see Splice INSTRUMENT: Plans and Pricing.

If I have a promo code for the INSTRUMENT plan, what happens after the promotional period ends?

Your Splice INSTRUMENT subscription will renew automatically, and you will be charged unless you cancel before the promotional period ends.

My operating system isn't supported by Splice INSTRUMENT. Can I keep using LABS?

Yes. You can continue using your existing LABS installation for as long as it continues to work.

There are a few limitations to be aware of:

  • LABS authorization is tied to your device hardware. Significant hardware changes or moving to a new computer may cause the plugin to stop working.

  • You will not be able to download or repair LABS content after the sunset, so we recommend installing anything you may want beforehand.

  • We will not be able to provide a legacy LABS installer or technical support after the sunset.
