How do I install a Kontakt Player library?

In this article we will go over how to install and authorise a Kontakt Player Library

Updated over a month ago

If you are unsure, there are two ways to make sure whether you own a Kontakt Player library:

1) Your library came with a serial number (check here for a list of your accounts serial numbers)

2) In the right-hand panel on the product's page on our wesbite, you'll see the text "Includes Free Kontakt Player"

Installing a Kontakt Player library

1) Download and install the Spitfire Audio App, you can find it here.

2) Launch your Spitfire Audio App, login, and find the relevant library under 'My Products'.

You can also filter this view by clicking on the "not installed" button, or look up the library by name in the top right search bar.

2) Click install, and you'll see the option to select the location that you want to download your library to. This will automatically be set to your "Default Content Path", which you can change in the app under Settings if you want to.

You also have the option to manually browse to your preferred location by clicking on the folder icon.

3) Once you're set, click download and you'll see the download begins with a progress bar and an estimated download time:

Once the download is complete, you will have your library folder. Please note that no plugin files are installed for these types of libraries, because they are loaded via Kontakt Player in your DAW.

It's now time to authorise your serial number via Native Access in order to add the library to Kontakt Player, which you will need in order to load it in your DAW.

Authorising your serial and adding your library to Kontakt Player

1) Install Native Access and Kontakt Player.

Download and install Native Access here.

  • Open the Native Access application.

  • Create a Native ID, if you do not have one already.

  • Login to Native Access using your Native ID.

  • Click Library on the left side of Native Access.

  • Click Available at the top of Native Access.

  • Click the Kontakt category to only show products related to Kontakt.

  • Click Install for Kontakt 8 Player. The software is installed automatically.

2) Authorise your serial number.

You ca find you serial in the "download ready" email you received after your order confirmation, or on your profile in your Spitfire Audio Account, here: spitfireaudio.com/my-account/serial-numbers/

Click on "Add Serial" in the bottom left hand corner of Native Access, then paste your serial number in the relevant field and click the 'Add Serial' button.

You'll see a confirmation that you have successfully registered your library in Native Access.

3) Go to your Library view in Native Access and you'll find your library ready to add.

When you click on the 'Add Product' button you'll be prompted to 'Choose a Location', click on that message in order to browse to your library folder.

Select your library folder

Once selected, you'll see the file path has been populated under 'choose a location', and you can click on 'Add Product'

You'll see a message confirming that you have successfully added your library, meaning it's ready to load via Kontakt.

Loading your library via Kontakt Player in your DAW

You are now ready to access your library via Kontakt Player in your preferred DAW, or load Kontakt Player as a standalone if you just want to preview the sounds without recording them.
