How do I Uninstall a Spitfire Library?

This article demonstrates how to uninstall a Spitfire Audio Product from your machine.

Note: This will not change the install status in the app. Downloaded products will still read as "installed". This is because the app cannot entirely read what is on your system.

Mac


Plugin Libraries

  1. In Finder Navigate to the location your library and delete the whole Spitfire Audio sample library folder. For example: "Spitfire Audio - Eric Whitacre Choir"

  2. Remove the plugin files from the following locations:

    Mac Hd > Library > Applications support > Avid > Audio > Plug Ins

    Mac Hd > Library > Audio > Plug Ins > VST3

    Mac Hd > Library > Audio > Plug Ins > VST

    Mac Hd > Library > Audio > Plug Ins > ComponentsAny custom plugin directory configured by the user for the DAW.
  3. Only If removing all Spitfire plugins, remove the spitfire.properties file located at:

  4. Mac HD/User/Music/Spitfire Audio/Settings

Kontakt Libraries

  1. In Finder Navigate to the location your library and delete the whole Spitfire Audio sample library folder. For example:

  2. In Finder, remove the library plist (preferences files) of Native Access. This changes the installed / not installed status of Native Access and removes the library from Kontakt. See this article for instructions.

Note: For non player libraries (libraries that do not require a serial number) you need only delete the library folder in finder.

Windows


Plugin Libraries

  1. In the files explorer, navigate to the location your library and delete the whole Spitfire Audio sample library folder. For example:

  2. Remove the plugin files from the following locations:

    AAX C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

    VST C:\Program Files\VstPlugins

    VST3 C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

    VST C:\Program Files(x86)\VstPlugins

    VST3 C:\Program Files(x86\Common Files\VST3
    Any custom plugin directory configured by the user for the DAW.
  3. Only If removing all Spitfire plugins, remove the spitfire.properties file located at:

  4. C:/Users/[username]/AppData/Roaming/Spitfire Audio/Settings

Kontakt Libraries

  1. In the files explorer, navigate to the location your library and delete the whole Spitfire Audio sample library folder. For example: "Spitfire Audio - Studio Strings Professional"

  2. In registry, remove the library folder from the locations:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Native Instruments

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Native Instruments

This changes the installed / not installed status of Native Access and removes the library from Kontakt. See this article for instructions.

Note: For non player libraries (libraries that do not require a serial number) you need only delete the library folder in finder.

Deleting the Spitfire App


When doing a full system uninstall of Spitfire related files, users may also want to delete the Spitfire App and the files that are associated with the app.

Note: Deleting these folders will break all connection to Spitfire Plugins that are still installed.

Mac

  1. Remove the application folder from Mac HD > Applications

  2. Remove the Spitfire Settings folder from:

  3. Mac HD/User/Music/Spitfire Audio/Settings

WINDOWS

  1. Remove the application by uninstalling from the Windows Control Panel:

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Control Panel and select it from the results

    • Select Programs > Programs and Features

    • Right-click on the program you want to remove and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change. Then follow the directions on the screen.

  2. Remove the Spitfire Settings folder from:

    C:/Users/[username]/AppData/Roaming/Spitfire Audio/Settings
