What is Splice INSTRUMENT?
Splice INSTRUMENT is a sample-based virtual instrument that puts world-class sounds at your fingertips. From rare pianos to iconic synths, it brings every instrument you couldn’t fit in your home straight into your DAW—ready to play, ready to make your own.
What is happening to LABS?
LABS isn't going away, it's now a part of Splice INSTRUMENT! All of the content that you know and love from LABS is included under the "LABS" and "Spitfire" labels within Splice INSTRUMENT.
The LABS plugin itself will continue to receive newly released content for a period of time, and we'll be doing some maintenance and bug fixes in order to keep your historical projects safe. All new content released will be for LABS+ subscribers only, there will not be any new free content in LABS. If you’re looking for more free content, there will be regular Free Drops inside of INSTRUMENT that will be available for you to keep!
We’ll be releasing LABS+ packs for the rest of 2025, and the plugin will continue to function well into 2026.

How do I migrate into Splice INSTRUMENT as an existing LABS user?
We've worked hard to ensure that there is a seamless transition process for existing LABS users. The setup is as simple as installing INSTRUMENT and upon first open all of your currently installed LABS content will be linked to INSTRUMENT as well.
From there we recommend setting up your installation path so that all your content remains in one place: How to set the install location for Splice INSTRUMENT content
Within your DAW, nothing will change. We do not want to break your existing projects, so they will all still load with the LABS plugin and will not be automatically replaced. This does mean that if you want to change an existing project to use INSTRUMENT, you'll need to manually replace the plugin on each track.

Moving from LABS+ to the INSTRUMENT plan
While the content transition is seamless, moving your subscription to the INSTRUMENT plan may cause a bit more confusion.
Having a LABS+ subscription does not allow you to access that content within INSTRUMENT, and having an INSTRUMENT plan does not allow you to access that content within LABS; they are strictly two separate services.
This means that in order to move from your LABS+ subscription to INSTRUMENT, you'll need to keep a few things in mind:
Your current projects/tracks using the LABS plugin will still play back just fine and respond to automation after cancelling your LABS subscription.
If you wish to use new tracks with LABS+ content, you should load the INSTRUMENT plugin instead where you can continue to tweak, modify, and download new content.
If you are having issues getting LABS to play back your tracks after cancelling your subscription, please reach out to our support team.
