What's happening between Splice and Spitfire Audio?
Spitfire Audio has been acquired by Splice. This partnership brings together two industry leaders with a shared mission: to empower music creators with the best tools, sounds, and technology to bring their ideas to life.
Will Spitfire Audio go away or become "Splice"?
Not at all. Spitfire Audio will continue to operate under its own name, brand, and distinct product experience — remaining dedicated to crafting world-class instruments. We'll be working on future products that combine the best of both platforms.
What does this mean for me as a Spitfire Audio customer?
Nothing changes to your existing libraries or licences. Spitfire Audio will continue to develop its catalogue and update its products, so you can continue to enjoy everything you already own.
Will there be any changes to my perpetual licences?
No. Your licences are unaffected.
What about pricing — will anything change?
No immediate changes are planned. We'll always communicate any updates in advance.
Will my Spitfire Audio login work on Splice, or vice versa?
For now, logins remain separate. We'll share updates if that changes.
What is happening to LABS?
LABS isn't going away — it's now part of Splice INSTRUMENT. All content you know from LABS is available under the LABS and Spitfire labels within INSTRUMENT. The LABS plugin will continue to function and receive maintenance for existing users, but all new content will be released through INSTRUMENT. For full details on migrating, see What is happening to LABS?
What is happening to Originals?
The full Originals range is now available through Splice INSTRUMENT — either as perpetual licence purchases (£/$/€29 each) or as part of a Splice INSTRUMENT subscription. If you already own any Originals, you'll get access to the updated INSTRUMENT versions for free. For full details, see the Originals FAQ.
Are Spitfire Audio libraries becoming subscription-only?
No. All Spitfire libraries remain available as one-time purchases directly from spitfireaudio.com. The subscription option through Splice INSTRUMENT is an additional way to access certain products, not a replacement.
Can I rent Spitfire Audio products through Splice?
Yes. A selection of Spitfire Audio products are available on Splice Rent-to-Own, allowing you to spread the cost over monthly payments and own the licence outright once complete. For full details, see Spitfire Audio on Splice Rent-to-Own.
Will musicians still receive royalties?
Yes. Musicians featured on our libraries continue to receive royalties, whether you purchase a perpetual licence or access them via subscription.
