How to fix the 'Unable to connect' login error in LABS

If you're returning to LABS after some time away and are unable to log in, you may encounter the following error message:

"Unable to connect. Please ensure the app has access to the internet."

This can happen if you're using an older version of the LABS plugin that hasn't been updated in a while.

Fortunately, updating to the latest available version of LABS should resolve this issue and allow you to log in again.

What does the error look like?

You may see the following message when attempting to log in to your Spitfire Audio account within LABS:

How to resolve the login issue

If you haven't used LABS for some time, we recommend downloading and installing the latest available version of the plugin.

Follow these steps:

  1. Download the latest available version of LABS for your operating system.

  2. Install the plugin.

  3. Reopen your DAW and launch LABS.

  4. Attempt to log in to your Spitfire Audio account again.

Installing the latest version should resolve the connection error and allow you to access your LABS instruments.

Important: LABS is no longer supported

Please be aware that the original LABS plugin is no longer being supported or maintained.

This means there will be no further updates, bug fixes, or compatibility improvements for the original LABS plugin.

While installing the latest available version should resolve the login issue described above, we cannot guarantee that LABS will continue to function with future operating system or DAW updates.

What should I do with my existing LABS projects?

Once you've successfully logged in and have your LABS instruments working again, we strongly recommend taking steps to future-proof any projects that rely on the original LABS plugin.

There are two options we'd recommend:

Option 1: Move your LABS instruments to INSTRUMENT (Recommended)

All previous LABS packs are now available within INSTRUMENT, so we recommend gradually replacing your existing LABS instances with their equivalent packs in INSTRUMENT.

You can download INSTRUMENT here:

Once installed, you can begin replacing your LABS instances with the corresponding instruments in INSTRUMENT.

Please note that existing LABS instances will not automatically transfer to INSTRUMENT, so you'll need to replace them manually.

Option 2: Freeze your existing LABS tracks

If you'd prefer to keep your existing LABS projects as they are, we recommend freezing or bouncing any tracks that use LABS.

When doing so, make sure to label each track with the LABS pack and preset being used.

For example:

LABS – Soft Piano – Default

This will make it much easier to identify and recreate the sound in INSTRUMENT if you need to revisit the project in the future.

Freezing or bouncing your tracks also helps ensure your existing projects remain usable if the original LABS plugin stops working.
